Duane Hill

Duane Hill is Interim Director of the Texas Tech “Goin’ Band from Raiderland” Marching Band in Lubbock, Texas. Earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Music Education (2004) and Master’s Degree in Wind Conducting (2010) from Texas Tech, he has had the privilege to work with outstanding music professionals from the collegiate level as well as the Texas public school system.  Mr. Hill’s graduate work was under the instruction of Dr. Sarah McKoin, Director of Bands at Texas Tech, while Keith Bearden and Christopher Anderson have been his educational mentors (former and current directors of the marching band). His career at Tech has included being Drum Major of the 400 member Goin’ Band from Raiderland, Director of the Concert Band, Commencement Wind Ensemble and University Bands. Mr. Hill continues to be involved with the recruiting efforts of the university by assisting with New Student Orientation and working with Admissions and School Relations.

Previously, he was the Associate Director of Bands at Leander High School (2004-2008). During his tenure, he facilitated the private lesson program, coordinated the leadership team and conducted school musicals. The Leander Band increased their membership, cultivated a strong leadership team and continued their tradition of musical excellence during his four year span with the program.  Though the majority of his time is dedicated to student empowerment and musical enlightenment, Mr. Hill enjoys playing basketball, eating the finest cuisine and attending church at Greater Mt. Zion.

His professional affiliations include: College Band Directors National Association,  Texas Music Educators Association,  Texas Bandmasters Association, College Music Society and Kappa Kappa Psi.
