Ryan Heath
Ryan Heath is a 2008 graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. He studied french horn with Roger Kaza and Nancy Goodearl, both of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. During his time at U of H he performed in all of the school’s major ensembles, including 3 years in the Moores School Wind Ensemble under the direction of Tom Bennett. Additionally, he served as the Drum Major for The “Spirit of Houston” Cougar Marching Band from 2004-2007 under the direction of David Bertman. He was the recipient of the 2007 Kevin Borgfeldt Leadership Award and has served as an organizer and clinician for various marching clinics at the University. He is also a member of the Executive Board for the Houston Band Alumni Organization.
Mr. Heath is a 2002 graduate of Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Tx. He student taught at Haltom High School with Greg Hull, Van Mathews, and Ben Maughmer in the fall of 2007, and continues to be involved with both the high school and middle school programs in the Haltom cluster. He as worked with several of the state’s outstanding marching programs, including the Friendswood High School Band and the Haltom High School Band. He has taught privately in the Houston Metropolitan Area and performed as a freelance musician since 2003.
This is Mr. Heath’s first year on staff with SASI. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.
