2008 Percussion Camp Dates
- Texas State University: June 15th-June 18th
- University of Houston: July 12th-July 15th
This exciting and educational camp is great opportunity for percussion students to receive a mid-summer boost to lead them into marching season with new ideas and a fresh approach. We will offer techniques and exercises that help participants progress individually, as well as, effective ensemble fundamentals and rehearsal techniques they can bring home that will help their own percussion section reach it’s fullest potential.
Playing Instruction
Participants will receive contemporary marching percussion training with Paul Pape, Associate Band Director/Percussion Instructor at Georgetown High School, along with a qualified staff of educators each focusing on their own area of expertise. This camp will focus on Snare Drum, Tenors/Marching Toms, Bass Drum, and Cymbals.
Marching Instruction
Participants will receive of modern, corps style marching training with Jeremy Spicer, Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Marching Band at Cedar Park High School and Paul Pape, Associate Band Director/Percussion Director at Georgetown High School.
Instruments
Instruments will not be provided. Participants will need to bring with them:
· Instrument (Snare Drum, Tenors/Marching Toms, Bass Drum, or Cymbals)
· Sticks and Mallets
· Carrier/Harness
· Instrument Stand
Specialized Instruction and Guest Appearances
Each camp will bring its own set of unique visitors. SASI has again partnered with Vic Firth and Yamaha for the summer of 2008 to provide guests artists and educators for our camps.
Lodging:
Participants will be lodged at the perspective university dorms. Participants will need linens, toiletries, and other personal items as none will be furnished by the university.
Tuition:

Resident Tuition is $400.00 per participant.

Commuter Tuition is $250.00 per participant.

A $10.00 fee will be assessed for Credit Card Payment.

Covers all camp related materials for both resident and commuter participants.
