Color Guard Director
Stephanie Chavez-Pradt began her color guard career as a member of the Cypress Falls High School Color Guard (2003–2007). After graduating, she continued performing at the highest level of the activity as a member of the Phantom Regiment Color Guard (2007–2010), serving as Color Guard Co-Captain in 2009 and Captain in 2010. She concluded her drum corps performing career with the Carolina Crown Color Guard in 2011. During the winter guard season, Stephanie performed with Code Black in 2008 and later served as Captain of Cypress Independent Winter Guard in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2016.
Following her performing career, Stephanie transitioned into education and quickly became a respected instructor and designer within the color guard community. She served as Color Guard Director at Cypress Ridge High School (2007–2013) and later as Color Guard Director at Klein Oak High School (2013–2018), where she led the program to the 2017 WGI Scholastic A World Championship. She also worked as a technician and choreographer for Spring High School, contributing to their 2014 WGI Scholastic Open World Championship. Stephanie has also been deeply involved in drum corps instruction throughout her career. She served on the color guard staffs of the Blue Knights (2012–2013), Crossmen (2015–2016), and Boston Crusaders (2017). She later returned to Phantom Regiment as Color Guard Caption Head, Choreographer, and Designer from 2018–2022. During the winter guard season, Stephanie also worked as a technician and choreographer for Cypress Independent Winter Guard (2013–2019).
Stephanie currently resides in Houston, Texas, where she has served as the Color Guard Director at Friendswood High School since 2018. In addition, since 2023, she has served as the Color Guard Co-Caption Manager for The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. She continues to work with high school and independent programs across the country as a designer, choreographer, and consultant.
Stephanie is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in Education. Outside of the color guard activity, Stephanie enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband Mason Pradt and her family, and relaxing at home with her two cats- tortoiseshell Pacha and orange tabby Sarabi.
