IVAN DE LA CRUZ

Educator

Ivan De La Cruz is a visual designer and educator based in Fort Worth, Texas. His work with marching bands throughout the Southwest has earned recognition at both local and state levels. He is an active marching band designer, adjudicator, consultant, and clinician working with programs across the United States. De La Cruz previously served as Assistant Band Director at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Arizona, where he contributed to a top three state finish in 2021 and state championships in 2022, 2023, and 2026. Prior to that, he was the Associate Director of Bands and Visual Program Director at Dublin Coffman High School in Columbus, Ohio. During his time there, the band earned two Bands of America Outstanding Visual Performance Awards in 2016 and 2017 and won the Class AAA Championship at the 2017 BOA Canton Regional. Earlier in his career, he served as an Assistant Director at The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas, where the program achieved consistent finalist status at the Bands of America Grand National Championships and won the 2013 Grand National Championship.

De La Cruz’s performance background includes the New Mexico State University Wind Ensemble and Pride Marching Band, as well as the Blue Knights and Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. As an educator, he has served on the visual staffs of The Cavaliers and Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps and was Corps Director for Santa Clara Vanguard from 2019 to 2021. He currently serves on the visual staff of Phantom Regiment.

In addition to his design work, De La Cruz presents clinics for band programs throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and more recently Latin America as a Conn Selmer Educational Clinician.
